Growing Futures: Seed to STEM Sequence
The Seed to STEM Sequence offers a specialized educational opportunity for school gardens in the Seed St. Louis network. This program allows students and teachers in grades K-5 to experience the garden as an outdoor classroom by integrating Next Generation Science Standards into garden-based learning and helping teachers develop the confidence and enthusiasm to teach outdoors.
This program brings an experienced Seed St. Louis garden educator to a selected school to facilitate one unit of our Seed to STEM Curriculum – one lesson per week for 6-8 weeks – for one grade level per semester. The Seed St. Louis educator also serves as a resource and guide throughout the school year (and beyond!) for garden planning, capacity building, and professional development.
Applications open in December and school selection takes place in the spring, with programming scheduled to start the following school year. Priority is given to schools serving a low income and/or low food access student population.
